Position title
Head of Private Client
Description

Nelson Bridges is proud to be partnering with a highly respected and forward-thinking law firm to appoint a Head of Private Client. This is an outstanding opportunity for an experienced specialist to lead and further develop a well-established department within a growing, well-capitalised organisation.

The Opportunity
The successful candidate will take responsibility for shaping and expanding the firm’s Private Client offering. You will build on an existing, loyal client base and strong commercial networks. The role focuses heavily on estate and tax planning for business owners and their families, while also overseeing wills, probate, and Court of Protection matters. You will be leading a capable team of lawyers and support staff, with full autonomy to drive performance, growth, and excellence in client service.

Key Responsibilities
You will lead and manage the department, maintaining your own varied caseload while supervising and mentoring your team. Your remit includes ensuring compliance with internal risk procedures, delivering on departmental targets, supporting business development initiatives, and contributing to the long-term strategic direction of the team. Training and development—both individually and collectively—will also form a key part of your role.

The firm is seeking a senior Private Client specialist (7+ PQE) with strong technical expertise and leadership capability. STEP membership is essential, along with experience handling taxable estates, complex wills, business LPAs, trusts, tax planning, and family investment companies/partnerships. You will have strong commercial awareness, excellent communication skills, and the ability to balance fee-earning with supervision. IT proficiency is also required.

The firm offers an excellent salary, 25 days’ holiday plus bank holidays, pension scheme, life cover, bonus scheme, flexible working arrangements, and free parking. This is a rare opportunity to step into a prominent leadership role with long-term progression, visibility with senior stakeholders, and the chance to make a meaningful impact within a dynamic and ambitious firm.
